First off is a visit to Brooklyn, to teach at Kaoru Watanabe’s Taiko Center, April 11-12-13. I’ll be sharing a weekend intensive program with the fantastic taiko artist Tetsuro Naito. We’ll be covering several topics including rhythm theory, katsugi oke-daiko, chappa and taiko set. Tetsuro is an excellent drummer that I have admired for many years and we’ve had great fun performing together in the past in Tokyo.

In addition, on April 13, Tetsuro, Kaoru Watanabe and I will be premiering our new project, 参 SUN Trio, in concert at ShapeShifter Lab. Promises to be explosive…
Next-up, on April 25th Trifolia will be presenting a showcase at JazzAhead in Bremen, Germany. We’re excited to be invited back to one of Europe’s most important music showcase events for the second year in a row. This time around, we’ll be there with our CD ‘Le refuge’ which has garnered an Opus Prize for jazz album of the year and a nomination for a JUNO prize!
