In 2009 I fell hard for a small US cymbal company called Hammerax. So many beautifully unusual sounds totally sparked my imagination. The fourth video in my improvising playlist, ‘Parallaksis’, features a selection of these unique metal instruments, including a Sheer bell, 6-piece Bell-Vine, Splash-Vine and a Boomywang, as well as (of course) a large bowl of water. Good headphones and a quiet space are recommended for this video, which was recorded April 22, 2016, at Timpano Studio, Montreal.
