New York Uke Fest

The month of May saw Small World Project on the road again for a great gig at the New York Uke Fest (we finally learned how to pronounce ‘u-ku-le-le’). What a city- always very exciting to perform in the Big Apple. Managed to squeeze a lovely visit with good friends Kaoru Watanabe, Mari, Miki and took a peek at their workshop/ rehearsal space, where I met Jimi, outstanding fabric artist and owner of the Gureje Boutique in Brooklyn. Awesome clothing! But don’t honk your horn anywhere near his shop.

Also wrapped two very memorable performances with a brand new trio featuring pianist Marianne Trudel and bassist Etienne Lafrance. Such great musicians- I am looking forward to further shows and recording a first disc together by the end of this year. Our debut concert was held at the beautiful theatre L’Anglicane in Levis, Quebec, where, apparently, the dogs are… special.
