New Recordings: Game Music, Film Music, CDs and Videos

IMG_2890It’s happened regularly over the past several years that I’m asked to participate in recording sessions for video games. I’m fairly ignorant of which games are successful or popular and which are not, but it is a kind of thrill to participate in one of these mega projects. And more often now, the companies seem to be taking game soundtracks seriously (as in, hiring real musicians). Case in point: this past weekend, I was happy to be recording with the drums in the photo, collaborating with my friend, film composer and producer Ramachandra Borcar. The details are under wraps until the game is released…

Other recent recording projects that are awaiting release: New documentary film score with composer Benoit Charest; ‘îles’, a new CD release by the ensemble La Nef (look for it during our performances this fall); and finally, I’m working on finishing several live concert videos. The first batch is from a performance with flutist and percussionist Kaoru Watanabe. The show was recorded by John Klepko, and we’ll be releasing the new videos very soon. The second batch is with the trio Small World Project, recorded by Ed Hanley at Toronto’s beautiful Musideum. Stay tuned!
