TaTom | Patrick Graham & Eien Hunter-Ishikawa

TaTom was composed in 2011. This new duo arrangement is a collaboration with my friend Eien Hunter-Ishikawa, a multi-talented percussionist based in Portland (USA).

My inspiration in composing the piece was the challenge of using only two syllables as generative material, ‘Ta’ and ‘Tom’. These are the two main onomatopoeic syllables associated with playing the kanjira, the South Indian tambourine. My sincere gratitude to my teacher, Prof. Trichy Sankaran.

TaTom was originally released on the album ‘Less Is More’ by the trio Small World Project.

Patrick Graham: composition & arrangement, video edit, vocals, finger-cymbals, kanjira, riqq, shakers and buzz-sticks.

Eien Hunter-Ishikawa: arrangement, audio mix, vocals, atarigane, taiko, drum-set.
