'Moonscape: Light', Final Track from 'Celeste'

‘Moonscape: Light’ is the 7th and final track from my album, 'Celeste', available exclusively on Bandcamp.

Like its sister piece, ‘Moonscape: Darkness’, the track’s origin dates back to my initial explorations connecting a Folktek Nano Garden to the metal instruments called hamon. The combination of plate reverbs, delays and the noise produced by the circuitry conjures a sensation of weightlessness and evokes a barren landscape gradually revealed in the light.

This music is dedicated to my friend, Hideo Arai. Hideo is a multi-talented dance-artist, one of the most creative people I’ve had the good fortune to count as a friend and collaborator. It has now been four years since he was diagnosed with ALS, a devastating motor neuron disease. While his life has since become increasingly fragile, he continues to teach and to remain as active as possible, including writing a book about his work as an artist and instructor. His courage in the face of this fatal disease has been an inspiration to me and everyone around him.

I am donating all of the proceeds from sales of this album to Hideo to help pay for the rising costs of his care.

Learn more about the disease and donate to your local ALS society, such as https://als.ca in Canada.
