Lumina is the second solo album by Canadian percussionist  Patrick Graham, a disc comprised entirely of acoustic percussion improvisations. Released on the Montreal-based label Malasartes, the ten tracks on Lumina were meticulously recorded over the course of almost a year in 2019. The result is an intensely introspective album that features a startling range of sounds and dynamics, best experienced in a quiet space.

Performed and produced by Patrick Graham
Executive Production by Damian Nisenson
Recorded and mixed by Ross Murray, Happyrock International (Chelsea, QC, 2019)
Mastering by Jean Martin
Photography by Youssef Shoufan
Album design by John Sellekaers

Patrick Graham possesses an enviable insight into tone and for me, this is the glue that binds this engrossing release of textural improvisations together. Graham deploys an array of different instruments (and expertise) from many different sources but miraculously manages to sidestep appropriative referencing in favour of deft, atmospheric world-building.
