‘A Clutter of 7 Cats’- New Video

I’m happy to share a new solo percussion video, ‘A Clutter of 7 Cats’. This is part of the series of improvised solos that I started last year. The object of the recordings is to stretch my improvising muscle and showcase unique and unusual instruments and combinations of sounds.

This new video features a drum that I deeply love, the shimejishi-daiko. The shimejishi was designed and developed by the group Kodo and in particular, ex-member Tetsuro Naito, a fabulous taiko artist living now in Tokyo. It’s a modern hybrid of both Japanese and Korean drums and has an incredibly powerful sound.

Along with the shimejishi I’m playing the pandero cuadrado, a traditional Spanish drum built by Togato Panderos, some Hammerax metal instruments and feet percussion.
