I’m super excited to be preparing a new collaborative project that will feature the wonderfully creative Spanish percussionist and composer, Aleix Tobias. Aleix is the director of Coetus, the amazing Iberian percussion orchestra, and a fantastic musician. His playing reflects a multitude of influences and his unique way of blending traditional and contemporary styles speaks to me on a very personal level.
Aleix and I will be leading an exciting ensemble put together by La Nef, who are producing the project: Andrew Wells-Oberegger (strings and percussion), Guillaume Bourque (clarinet and bass-clarinet), Rémi-Jean Leblanc (bass) and Claire Gignac (vocals and flute).
Two concerts at Salle Gésu in Montréal, 27 & 28 November at 8pm!
UPDATE: Aleix will be instructing a workshop about Spanish percussion (pandereta, cajon & pandero cuadrado) at Timpano Percussion, November 22, 1pm to 4pm.
